GlobeMed Gala

On Sunday, April 1st, GlobeMed at UMKC will host our annual benefit dinner GlobeMed Gala at Californos in Westport. All proceeds from this event will go towards sustainable health programs at Kabwohe Clinical Research Center, a clinic specializing in HIV/AIDS, in Bushenyi, Uganda.

In years past this event has helped as create community gardens and a goat micro-finance program. This year we plan to expand these programs with more seedlings, more goats and even pigs! These plants and animals not only provide nutrition but also a source of income for families in the community around the Center.

Dr. Kathy Goggin and Sarah Hopper will be our guest speakers this year! Dr. Goggin is Curators' Professor of Psychology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City where she serves as Director of the HIV/AIDS Research Group. Sarah Hopper is a sociology graduate student at the University of Missouri-Kansas City who did HIV/AIDS work with the Peace Corps in Swaziland.

Please join us at Californos on April 1st to enjoy food and entertainment, while also learning more about the AIDS epidemic and how we strive to improve global health equity.
